Indian Union Ministry of Human Resources Development, today officially unveiled Android Aakash tablet, which is also known as $ 35 a tablet. This tablet has been developed and manufactured by DataWind in association with IIT Rajasthan and NME in ICT. Aakash is a tablet completely different from what was shown last year .

After several failed attempts, the Government of India returned to the drawing board and came out with a completely new device, which is actually an indigenous product. Several features, such as GPRS, camera have been dumped to reduce the price of $ 35. The government is buying 100,000 units on an experimental basis from the manufacturer DataWind INR2250 for a price ($ 45), to be given to post-secondary students at a lower price. Government is considering the price of EUR 1750 ($ 35).

As previously reported on the tablet, Datawind commercial retail consumers with added benefits, such as cellular connectivity and it is sold at INR2, 999 . Retail sales will begin in the month of November as Datawind Ubislate.

Critics say it is too early to say how Aakash will be received at the cheapest form of tablets in the past have proven to be very slow.

“The thing about cheap pills is often useless,” said Rajat Agrawal India Technology BGR examiners Reuters.

“They do not have a touch screen very good, and they are usually very slow.”

Critics also point out that the earlier plan for a cheap laptop in the same ministry has come to nothing.

In 2009, he announced plans for a laptop minimum price of $ 10, raise the eyebrows and the launch of the international media. But, there was disappointment for “Sakshat” turned out to be a prototype of a handheld device at a price not specified, which never materialized.

Specifications:

Aakash will come with a 366 MHz processor, 7-inch screen resistive, 256 MB RAM, 2 GB of internal memory, two USB 2.0 ports, and WiFi. Ubislate Retail version will be added GPRS.

    I must say it is a very good tablet . It has two operating system Android and Windows CE It has 3G,Wifi and Ethernet services. Also you get a phone calling option when connect to 3G dongle . For people looking to buy an economical tablet this is the one you cant miss. It costs only 3999Rs . Thank you wickedleak Highly Recommended to all 🙂
